Nestled in Virginia’s Piedmont countryside, The Boar’s Head is a Charlottesville landmark. At the doorstep of the grounds of the University of Virginia, The Boar’s Head promises world-class amenities in a setting richly Southern in character, charm and natural beauty. The property, however, needed refreshing. In mid-2010, we began exploring ideas and developing plans to renovate the resort, which was last refurbished in the 1990s.
The visioning and planning process that ignited our current renovation was extensive. These planning sessions included line employees, mid-level managers, department heads, and our owners, the UVA Foundation. Our brainstorming efforts provided a fresh vision and a new set of core strategies for the resort’s products and services which catapulted us to a multi-day charette. These intense, collaborative meetings allowed us to gain valuable insights from our stakeholders and guided us in defining the future of the resort.
In March 2011, after nearly a year of exhaustive preparation, The Boar’s Head began work on a variety of property enhancement projects such as purchasing new fitness equipment, resurfacing several indoor tennis courts, re-roofing buildings, painting, upgrading the walkways and much more. There is still much to be done, including a major room and common area renovation project. This undertaking will begin in November and will be complete by March 2012.
We are all excited about our property enhancement and restoration projects. We know the results will create lasting memories for our guests, clients and members long into the future.
